a story of Southern agriculture

The Friday Favored: 5th edition

This was a quiet week of cleaning, gardening, photographing and enjoying mild spring days – with a thunderstorm this morning to cap it off.

Here are a few more bits from around here.  Enjoy!

The Friday Favored: 5th edition

1.) On the weather:

Speaking of storms…  My depth of understanding of weather analogies has improved since the days of  “nothing more”.

Storms always come.

2.) Somethin’ powerful mint:

I didn’t figure on having any mint this year because of the extreme cold we had down here in January.

Mint lives in a pot on my patio since it will take over the world unless given boundaries.

Since its pot probably froze through and through over the winter, this little sprig survived 34 degrees below freezing.

It may have the genetics to take over the world regardless of my pot!  I’ll keep an eye on it for you. 😉

3.) On remembering and living well:

This grandmother gave her family a beautiful treasure hunt.

This daughter spent the winter with her father’s camera.

Grieving well with a heap of thanksgiving – these ladies shared personal and important parts of their journeys at their blogs this week.  I’m a better woman for it.  Thanks, ladies.

3.) Friends Tell Friends – pet edition:

friends tell friends 1

friends tell friends 2

friends tell friends 3

friends tell friends 4

friends tell friends 5

Well, did you get it taken care of, Tom?

friends tell friends 7

Tom:  Why does she take pictures of us like this?

4.) On Farmer time:

Social media time management – the ever unfinished battle.  Bah.

She laughs at the thought of a day off – me, too.

And I hear Alf in the background – “Ha! Ha! I kill me!”

In truth, we do get away and take days off – it just seems a bit messy more often than not – like a kitten on a loaf next to an extraterrestrial.

5.) Not too long, thoughtful and very much worth the read:

Life is not a forest of measuring sticks…

Have a pleasant weekend.

Emily Grace

You crack me up! Thank you for containing the world dominating plant. My biggest fear is death by herb and I can now live in peace. *sigh of relief* On a more serious note, the imagery in the measuring sticks post is really neat, I enjoyed it! Thank you for posting my link too! I am honored. 🙂

I read both the posts you linked in #3, remembering and living well. Both brought a tear to my eye. What a wonderful thing for a grandmother to do and what a wonderful way for a daughter to carry on a love of her father’s. Thanks for sharing E.G.!

    Emily Grace,
We had nice weather over the weekend. Temps in the 40’s and 50’s sure makes the snow melt. It will be a while before any gardening will be done around here.

I enjoyed Anne’s post about her Dad’s photography. My love for picture taking comes from my Mom.

I enjoy Ann V’s blog too.

Hope you have a fabulous week!

      Thanks for stopping by, Robyn!

I’m thrilled to know I’m reading Ann V along with another ag lady. I really appreciate her work.

Hope it stays warm for you – you’ve got to be ready for sunny and 75. 🙂

I love these Friday posts! Just when I think I’ve found all the interesting farming/homesteading blogs that are out there, you show a whole new group every Friday!

Also, your pet friends are just too cute =) I have a small dog who is besties with one of my cats… they snuggle, play, and clean each other. It’s ridiculous!

    PS – Alf. is. awesome.

Hi Caitlin! Thanks for your affirmation. I appreciate it.

Pet friendships are lovely to observe. Buddy is a friend to all. Our other cat cleans his face for him.

      And yes, Alf.is.awesome. 🙂

I knew this post would be a winner from the get-go! Any post with a picture of Alf about to eat a cat can only be great haha.

Thanks, Colby! Alf is one of those childhood characters that just pops into my brain from time to time – fun memories. 🙂 Hope you’re having a great week!

Thanks, Colby. We are quite well enough. No complaints to speak of. Normal speed…I vaguely remember that from a while back. 🙂
